Evolution of structure of rail steel lamellar pearlite under compression deformation

The article presents the results of analysis evolution defective substructure rail steel pearlite with lamellar morphology under deformation by uniaxial compression. strain hardening studied such has a multistage character. Deformation is accompanied fragmentation grains, which intensifies as degree increases and reaches 0.4 foil volume at ε = 50 %. Fragments formed in ferrite plates are separated low-angle boundaries. It was established that average sizes plate fragments decrease from 240 nm (ε 15 %) to 200 an increase degree. Fragmentation cementite revealed. found size varies within – 20 weakly depends on deformation. Fracture lamellae, proceeding their dissolution cutting mobile dislocations, discovered. Carbon atoms have passed crystal lattice dislocations carried out into interlamellar space form particles tertiary cementite, 2 4 nm. In process deformation, inhomogeneous dislocation formed, due deceleration particles. scalar excess density may be escape boundaries, well annihilation. sources internal stress fields interfaces between grains colonies, second phase located plates.
